Aurigny to question whether blanket flight ban was right

AURIGNY could seek compensation for revenue lost during the ban on flying brought about by the volcanic ash cloud.
Commercial director Malcolm Coupar announced yesterday that the airline would investigate whether the blanket ban had been necessary, adding that the firm was unhappy with how it had been put in place.
‘Assessments should have been made at the time of implementation and an explanation given to airlines as quickly as possible,’ said Mr Coupar.
‘We do think the ban was brought in very hastily, but we aren’t yet in a position to say whether we think it was right or wrong.
‘Aurigny, like all other airlines, is pretty annoyed about the ban because there was no explanation given at the time of implementation,’ he added.
