A LUNG-BUSTING curtain raiser will kick off the domestic offshore rowing season tomorrow afternoon.

Crews have been finishing off their preparation this week ahead of the traditional 3,100m St Sampson’s to St Peter Port event.

After three years at the helm, Tim Prout has stepped aside to bring in a new combination at the head of the Guernsey Rowing Club.

Matt Toussaint has stepped up to take over the captaincy, supported by last year’s vice-captain, Sam de Kooker.

‘Last season was probably one of our most successful in the club’s 37-year history,’ said the new president.
