Dodd no longer the angry young man

Monday 26th April 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Garry DoddGARRY DODD, still only 20, blazed his way to a third straight men’s singles title at the Hougue du Pommier centre on Saturday night beating a tetchy, even younger pretender in straight sets.

Dodd (pictured) used to play the angry young man role on occasion. Not any more.

Now he leaves that to Olly Langlois who, at 16, needs to take stock of his performance and the manner in which he so easily lost focus to be brushed away in four sets.

Dodd did not give a sniff to Langlois, who was tipped to win his first title by some afcianados.

Only one game – the first – was close. It saw Langlois recover from 5-10 down to take it to 10-10, before failing to make contact with a forehand loop and lose the game 12-10.
