FIVE crew members from HMS Daring joined walkers raising money for Cancer Research and Hope for Guernsey on Saturday.

About 130 people turned up to walk the 16-mile expedition from the Vallette bathing pools to Pleinmont.

Able Seaman Gordon Stirling had heard about the cliff walk and decided to come ashore to take part.

‘We got as many lads as we could to come along.’

He joked that he had been looking forward to it until he had seen the number of steps leading up from Guernsey Aquarium.
