GUERNSEY agonisingly missed out on taking the next step up the national ladder as they suffered a three-point defeat in Saturday’s London Two promotion play-off at Hove.

Club captain Dave McGall was among the Guernsey contingent to make the trip.

He admitted that the failure to be clinical in their finishing cost the visitors dearly in their 17-14 defeat.

‘It’s a tough pill to swallow,’ he said.
