Alison in semi
Tuesday 27th April 2010, 2:29PM BST.
ALISON MERRIEN’S run in the World Cup in Australia continued yesterday, when, as expected, she kept her unbeaten record intact and clinched her place in tomorrow’s semi-finals.
The feisty Sarnian’s fellow semi-finalists, Siti Zalina Ahmad, from Malaysia, and host country hope Karen Murphy, are also unbeaten in their groups, and the three will be joined in the last four by a play-off winner.
Merrien looked unstoppable as she swept past Norfolk Island’s Debbie Wilford, 15-3, 20-1, and she secured her place in the semis with a 16-2, 12-8 win over Canada’s Catherine Taylor.
