BLACK flags spoilt top local junior sailor Johanna Asplund’s time at the Brassermeer International Optimist Easter Regatta in Holland.
The British champion was having an excellent series until the end when she picked up two black flags for starting too early over the start line and was disqualified from these races.
This took her from a top 20 finish down to 50th out of a 223-strong fleet with sailors from nine different nations.
This may have been a bit disappointing but for Asplund her finishes of five, 21, seven, nine, five, 14, black flag disqualification, 59 and BFD has showed that she is not only among the top Great Britain sailors but also that she stands strong in a top European fleet.
Fellow Guernsey Yacht Club junior Clementine Thompson joined Asplund in the British team at the regatta.
