Public Services offers two seats but no votes on waste

Public Services deputy minister Scott Ogier chairs the WDA. (0599018)

PUBLIC Services wants two more deputies to get involved in drawing up the island’s new waste strategy, it announced yesterday.

But their input would be solely through discussion – they will not be able to vote on the strategy as it is drawn up.

With mounting talk of a vote of no confidence in the department, it has written to all States members inviting them to put themselves or other members forward to join the Waste Disposal Authority – effectively a PSD sub-group.

The invitation is in addition to workshops for deputies which are intended to outline the process involved in developing the new strategy and guide the department on what direction that should take.
