THREE historic robes have been added to the costume display at the folk museum.
The robes, which are on permanent loan from Lord Saumarez, are more than 100 years old.
‘I live in the Castel and I love this museum,’ he said.
‘I thought this was such a necessary and appropriate place for them to go, much better than them sitting in the drawer like they were before.
‘I think they look good here and they definitely fit in with the whole of the museum setting.
‘I know they will be well looked after and people should take the opportunity to come and see them.’
The coronation baron and baroness robes and the state opening of parliament peer’s robe have been in Lord Saumarez’s family for three or four generations.
