UK investment market review ‘will be good for Guernsey’

PLANS to make the investment market in the UK more transparent will bring benefits to wealth managers in Guernsey, it has been claimed.
Although the Retail Distribution Review, a Financial Services Authority regime, will not carry over into Guernsey, chairman of the Guernsey Investment Managers and Stockbrokers Association Richard Bellis said many of its intended ‘best practice’ consequences would filter through.
The proposals, due to take effect from the end of 2012, look to address levels of consumer trust and confidence in the retail investment market and would affect the payment of commission, qualification requirements and the way advisers can describe themselves.
