GUERNSEY POLICE could soon join the UK in a gun amnesty.
Blank-firing pistols of the type used to start track races are to become illegal on the mainland from 4 June.
UK police revealed that it was commonly becoming the weapon of choice in British gang warfare.
Inspector PJ Le Breton said the force supported the amnesty.
‘Guernsey is not obliged to follow UK amnesties,’ said the local inspector of firearms. ‘However, we recognise that this particular model can be readily converted into a live firearm.’
‘We are asking the public to drop starter pistols of this type in to us, without fear of prosecution.’

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
More flannel from a Police force that just cherry picks what it feels it should do to appease the general public. I amongst others have informed Guernsey Police about the whereabouts of firearms and I mean proper guns not starting pistols.
They are reluctant to approach the person he is regarded by the Police as Aggressively Reluctant Character.

Surely this news item was intended to be published on 1st April!
There have been many bans of inanimate objects in many countries, without producing any evidence of social benefit – but lots of evidence of social harm. It is very sad to see an independent jurisdiction once more copying English stupidity.
Another complete waste of time. Guns are one of the most simple mechanical devices known to man. Anyone can build a gun from bits of steel tubing. Back in 1997 they said banning handguns would result in lower gun crime. Guess what? It more than doubled.
Instead of criminalizing the law abiding for ‘crimes’ that don’t entail harm or loss, raise sentences for those who actually do harm others.
