Banques and Victoria Ave. go dry for cup final
Saturday 1st May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
AN ALCOHOL-FREE zone is being set up for the National League System Cup final to try to prevent anti-social behaviour.
People will be banned from drinking in Victoria Avenue and Les Banques, between the Halfway and the Red Lion, from 5.30pm to 10pm today.
Guernsey Police’s chief inspector of operations Ruari Hardy said his main concern was to protect people who lived in the area from disorderly behaviour.
Victoria Avenue will also be closed to traffic except residents and permit holders between 6.10 and 6.30pm but there will be drop-off points on Les Banques.
