THE Guernsey Photography Festival was officially opened by Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland yesterday evening.
The month-long schedule of events started with an exhibition of work by world-renowned photographers Simon Norfolk and Josef Koudelka.
Mr Norfolk, on his first trip to Guernsey, said that at first he had not been sure if festival director Jean-Christophe Godet would be able to organise such a large event in Guernsey.
‘I got an email about it from Jean-Christophe and I thought he would never pull it off. I was a little bit sceptical, but it’s fantastic.’
He was surprised Mr Godet wanted to put together a festival on such a large scale because similar events in the UK are struggling.
