STUDENTS at Blanchelande Girls’ College were treated to a flying visit by 846 Naval Air Squadron yesterday.

A crew landed on the school field in a Sea King Mk4 helicopter.

The school is now affiliated with the squadron and principal Leslie Le Page gave the visitors a plaque to mark the occasion.

‘It is fantastic that the squad came,’ she said. ‘It is important for the girls to get in touch with the bigger, wider world and see what the forces do for us and everyone.

‘And it is also important that they realise the navy does have female pilots and as girls there is nothing they cannot do.’

Well said Mrs Le P! Blanchelande is a great school, very proud to have been a student there. I just wish I could have been there to see a HELICOPTER landing in the school field!!
