Jersey fans blamed for Muratti pitch punch-up

THE Muratti ended in violence on the pitch after Guernsey’s 1-0 win.
And Jersey Police blamed their own side’s supporters for reacting badly to boisterous but responsible Guernsey fans after Saturday’s victory on their turf at Springfield.
The Sarnian supporters’ celebratory pitch invasion turned sour when some home fans reacted badly to them charging on to celebrate victory.
Police and security teams stepped in to break up the fight and one 17-year-old Jersey fan was arrested.
Inspector Alan Williamson of the Jersey force said the two groups were separated and let out through different exits before the core Guernsey group was escorted to the harbour for the boat home.
