Accident scene response earns motorist award

WHEN a motorcycle collided with his car one December evening, Scott Ellis could have been forgiven for being angry.
But instead the 25-year-old (pictured) gave the injured rider his coat, made him comfortable and started to direct the Longue Rue traffic around the casualty.
His efforts were rewarded last week at a St John Ambulance and Rescue Service ceremony when the trainee driller picked up the chief ambulance officer’s award for recognition of assistance.
He was praised for the way he organised the scene, getting warning triangles from his car and organising someone to divert traffic at the far end of the road.
‘Scott Ellis’s actions on this evening were straight out of the textbook and an example to others,’ said chief officer Jon Beausire.
