THIS year’s conservation awards have attracted entries from across the Bailiwick.

The Insurance Corporation-sponsored bursary is celebrating its 20th anniversary and company chairman Peter Walpole said there was more enthusiasm than ever for caring for the environment.

‘Twenty years ago there was very limited interest when it came to talking about the environment but only this morning green issues were top of the agenda for the new Government in the UK.’

He said that interest was being reflected here and it was the first year they had received entries from all islands in the Bailiwick. Judging took place over two days.

‘It’s wonderful. Green areas are no longer second nature, they are first nature,’ he said.
