Ponte closes in on best
Thursday 13th May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
AIMEE PONTE is now on her own as the island’s second lowest handicapped player among women.
The 13-year-old island champion (pictured) saw her handicap trimmed by one to five after she shot a 75 gross, net 69, to win the scratch prize in the Royal Guernsey’s Toyota Trophy and EWGA Medal event at L’Ancresse.
Only three-handicap Jan Chamberlain possesses a lower mark.
Ponte finished a shot behind the main trophy winner Joan Bichard, whose 68 equated to a 79 gross.
Beverley Mason-Barney was third with a net 70.
