Cochrane backs Guernsey FC call
Friday 14th May 2010, 2:30PM BST.
SAM COCHRANE cannot wait for Guernsey FC to get off the ground.
At the end of a momentous season for the island football captain, Cochrane has thrown his weight behind the project to put Guernsey on the national league pyramid.
The Bels defender (pictured), who has lifted the NLS Cup and Muratti Vase in the space of the last fortnight, wants the big games in front of big crowds to come thick and fast.
And while he is fully committed to the idea of Guernsey playing on a weekly basis in the national structure, which is expected to happen from September 2011, Cochrane has warned it should not be to the complete detriment of the Division One programme and does not wish to have to choose between club and ‘country’.
