Flybe fears increases through new style of air charges
Friday 14th May 2010, 11:30AM BST.
FLYBE believes the new UK Government’s plan to change the way air taxes are charged is a ‘smokescreen’ for higher rates.
The Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition announced that air passenger duty will be replaced with a charge for each aircraft.
Details have not been announced, but a Flybe spokesman said any rise in duty for airlines would lead to an increase in ticket prices.
Aurigny commercial director Malcolm Coupar was more circumspect and said without knowing how the new tax would be structured it was impossible to tell how it would affect the airline. However, he said he hoped the charges would be levied in a fairer way.
The UK Government has also scrapped plans for a third runway at Heathrow and said it will not allow any more to be built at either Gatwick or Stansted.

Flybe believes???
FlyBe tween the lines and this reads…lets tell the customers it will result in an increase as we plan to increase anyway.
UK Goverment…Please tell the public the formula so we can work out which airline is ripping us off and like the credit card charging we can see which ones are charging us a multiple of what they are being charged.

Is this the very same Fly(may)Be who already charges passengers around £60 per return flight in “airport charges and fuel tax”, against the likes of EasyJet and Ryanair who charge a flat-rate £10 each way?
I have e-mailed FlyBe on more than half a dozen occasions asking them to prove how much fuel duty and airport charges they pay so I can calculate if the charges they pass on are true and fair. Guess what? My e-mails have not even been acknowledged.
Fuel tax charges are the biggest rip-off going. Can you imagine catching a taxi and at the end of the journey the driver saying “the fare is £5.80, plus another £2.60 for petrol”???!!!
On a side-note: Please be VERY wary of using FlyBe’s insurance option. The last time I needed it (during the snow storms in Feb ’09) the phone number provided didn’t work, not did the 2 alternative numbers given to me by FlyBe staff at the airport…..

Here Here! If a flight from Gatwick is listed as £10 then I know it’ll be £103 return… it just doesn’t make sence how they add this and that little extra, and credit card charge and a transaction fee even if you’re not paying by credit card and for bags and for insurance and for taxes and charges and, and….
Come on FlyBe!! I’m now turning to Condor as they have better offers, cheaper deals and its suprisingly less hassle to just turn up and arrive in Guernsey! I’m getting to you for £40 for five people this weekend!
