Pollet ‘bottling’ case: accused cleared of wounding with intent
Saturday 15th May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
A JERSEYMAN has been cleared of intentionally wounding a local teenager.
At the end of a Royal Court trial the nine jurats found Matthew David Smith not guilty.
Smith, 25, had admitted the less serious charge of unlawful wounding.
The jurats accepted this and rejected the more serious count by a seven to two majority.
The defendant had injured Russell McCarthy, 19, in an incident on 28 November last year.
The defendant had a previous conviction for common assault. He will be sentenced in June.
