Waters saves his very best for last

THE local full-bore rifle season opened with the traditional three-week competition for the Albiges and Durrington Trophies.
Stage one comprises two sighters and seven shots to count at 300, 500 and 600 yards and Rob Waters opened his season with a 102.14 ex 105.21 to take an early lead in the Albiges Trophy for A-class shots, just seven V-bulls ahead of Richard Perkins.
B-class shots contest the Durrington Trophy and club president Pete Sirett took the lead with a 102.13 closely followed by Alan Le Page on 102.06.
The second stage, two sighters and 10 shots to count at 300 and 500 yards, saw Waters extend his lead with a score of 98.13 ex 100.20 while Perkins could manage only a 96.08.
