PARTNERS from Appleby offices around the globe were at the law firm’s official Guernsey launch to give their outlook on the trends of the offshore world.
The Guernsey office started work on 19 April, but the launch event last week, led by Jersey partner and chairman of the executive board John Bisson, provided an opportunity for the firm to present an expert insight into various world markets to an audience of Guernsey finance professionals, intermediaries and politicians.
Jeanne Bartlett, from Bahrain, talked about the Middle East, Malcolm Moller from Mauritius spoke on India and Africa, Nick Verardi from the Isle of Man spoke about Russia, London’s Warren Cabral talked about Latin America, while Frances Woo from the Hong Kong office and Bermuda’s Shaun Morris spoke on the Far East and North America respectively.
All briefly explained what opportunities could exist for island businesses in each of those markets with Guernsey’s speciality in the captive insurance sector picked out as a definite strength, as was its stable government.
