CATERER Sueco has taken Environment to a planning appeal tribunal after the department failed to determine its application for a marquee within three months.
Sueco, represented by managing director Peter Yates and Advocate Simon Geall, wants to erect a marquee at fields near Icart and leave it up until the end of September. It currently has to be put up and taken down again for every event.
Director of planning services Jim Rowles appeared for Environment. He said the application was rejected because it would be detrimental to the visual quality of the area.
Sueco presented letters and a petition with more than 300 signatures in support of the marquee to the tribunal panel, which was headed by William Bowen.
The tribunal’s decision is expected at the end of the month.
