Carl moves in as Phil goes upstairs
Wednesday 19th May 2010, 2:30PM BST.
NEW Vale Rec boss Carl Le Tissier wants two new signings as he targets a top-three finish next season.
The former island star, who won a string of titles with the club as a player as well as 14 Murattis, was officially installed as the Rec’s head coach on Monday and is confident that the club is on the brink of a return as a major force.
Le Tissier’s elevation to the job represents a smooth transition from assistant to Phil Corbet to the top job.
For much of the second half of last season he took charge of the side in Corbet’s absence, and, with the latter moving into an unspecified executive role as always planned, Le Tissier gets an opportunity he is relishing.
‘I was supposed to be number two to Phil for two years and it is a year earlier than I wanted, but I’m confident I can do it well.’
