JAMES HAMON and Dave Jeffery have crashed the big boys’ party in reaching tonight’s Intertrust Island Championship quarter-finals.

The last eight include four previous winners as well as two island regulars, but 14-year-old Hamon and La Grande Mare’s Jeffery provide the relatively unknown quantity.

To be fair to both, though, they have shown plenty of good form in recent times with Hamon claiming the Brymay Cup less than a fortnight ago and Jeffery won his club’s ‘grand slam’ last season, so it is not a great surprise that they are proving hard to beat.

It was Hamon who was in the ‘match to follow’ yesterday, which proved to be the last out on the course, as he met Micky King, the senior champion who had overcome Steve Mahy 24 hours earlier.
