Internet shopping pioneer MX2 goes out of business

blank DVDs. Generic picA local computer company that was among the pioneers of internet shopping has gone bust.

MX2 Computers Ltd, which is said to have employed between 20 and 40 people at its peak, has been placed into liquidation.

The fulfilment business was marketed as ‘food for enthusiasts’ and sold digital cameras, batteries, memory sticks and blank CDs, among other items.

It has in recent years faced stiff competition from much larger sites such as Amazon and 7dayshop.com, which all compete for customers searching for the best price.

Former managing director John Houslip said yesterday that the company had worked with the remaining five staff to secure them positions elsewhere.

    so what about my money that they took on the day the went into recivership??… after they held on to my order for 2 weeks saying it was out of stock. suddenly it came into stock on the day they went bust.
