Ministers moot pan-island Bar, regulator and auditor-general

A PAN-ISLAND financial services regulator is just one area in which Guernsey and Jersey could work together, it has been claimed.
Speaking at a Lloyds TSB breakfast seminar, Chief Minister Lyndon Trott and Jersey Treasury minister Philip Ozouf (pictured) identified ways in which they would like to see the islands do more side-by-side, including a joint competition authority, a joint Guernsey and Jersey Bar and a pan-island auditor-general.
Deputy Trott said it made sense to look at issues on a Channel Islands basis and the future opening of an EU office to represent the interests of Guernsey and Jersey in Brussels was an example of how it could work.
A pan-island regulatory body was definitely of interest, he said.
