Final conditions hamper Bodman

ERICA BODMAN put in a double shift in Germany at the weekend.

The Sarnian was competing at the Duisburg International Regatta with the Great Britain development team and raced in both her single boat and an under-23 quad.

‘On Friday, I raced my singles heat really well, narrowly being beaten to second place, but it was top three to qualify so I didn’t worry about that,’ Bodman said.

‘The final on Saturday was raced against a strong headwind and lots of wash from the umpiring launches as the organisers tried to keep up with the schedule.

‘My race ran 25 minutes late and in the wind and the waves I didn’t row as well as I could have done. I was disappointed with my race, but I finished fifth in the A-final of the U-23 women’s single sculls.’
