IT COULD be too dangerous to hold the Cobo Bay Hotel balcony gigs without closing the road, according to neighbours and punters.

It looks like the concerts will have to be scaled back or cancelled this year because the police have tightened up on road closures for such events.

Hotelier David Nussbaumer could apply for an alfresco licence but a law firm has advised him that it could cost up to £1,000 just to apply, with no guarantee of success – something he said he cannot afford.

Sheila Vivian, 79, lives next door to the hotel and said she could not see how the concert could be staged if the road remained open.

‘There was a lovely atmosphere down here at the concerts. It’s all ages, not a load of rowdy teenagers. It was great, I thought, but to try and keep them all in there [the grounds of the hotel and the Rockmount] is madness.’

For the sake of a couple of afternoons in the summer some people over on this island are just happy to complain. Close the sea front for a few hours, create a time the music must be finished by (8.00pm) would probably be ok for all, and all the people who cant stand fun or a little noise for a short time can go on a Puffin patrol or something. All those who complain, ‘STOP WRECKING OUR ISLAND. There is no Earth Fair this year, no Guernsey Live and hardly any beach partys anymore. Get a life and just live and let live !!!!!!
