New CIPD head plans to reach out
Tuesday 25th May 2010, 2:30PM BST.
THE new chairwoman of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development plans to make it more modern, friendly and accessible by expanding it online.
Kathy Armstrong (pictured), who has 14 years’ human resources experience, said she was ready for the challenge and confident she would bring something special to the role.
She plans to take the CIPD further by developing its web presence and reaching out to the wider community.
‘We may well get into using blogs and social networking sites and all that jazz and working on our own website to make sure we make the most of the technology at our disposal,’ she said.
‘We are trying to communicate with a broad spectrum of people in terms of age, economic sector and gender and we need to be as inclusive as possible.’
