PERFECT conditions heralded the opening domestic track and field meeting of the season at Foote’s Lane.

The format, where track events are seeded by standard rather than age, provided close competition throughout the evening and Sarah Mercier’s women’s island record in the 1,500m was the highlight.

But there was also an impressive 11sec. dead run by Scottish Sportingbet Channel Islands AC athlete David Martin in the 100m, while behind him under-17 Ross Hanley posted a personal best of 11.5.

In the same heat Teresa Roberts’ 12.9 run made her the fastest female competitor of the night.
