NEARLY a month’s rain fell in just 12 hours yesterday, ending a two-month drought.
Until yesterday, only 4.1mm of rain had fallen since the end of April, which is just 10% of an average May’s rainfall.
But between their readings at 6pm on Tuesday and 4pm yesterday 38.4mm of rain fell, reports Guernsey Met. Office.
Almost all of that fell between 1am and 1pm yesterday.
The result was flooding in many parts of the island, although a spokesman said it was not unusual to see that much rain.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
And what drivers need to realise is that they can’t fly through the puddles in the gutters when there are pedestrians around.
I had to walk to school yesterday because I had an exam and I was sprayed 4 different times by 4 different cars and ended up sitting in that exam hall soaking wet and freezing cold, and was then expected to write about Margaret Thatcher and Harold Wilson.
A little consideration would be nice!
