BARS could save money if they recycled more of their waste, according to a member of the Guernsey Recycling Advisory Forum.

Sarah Breton said many establishments did not realise the good they could be doing for the environment – and for their business.

‘If you sort and separate waste and send it to recycling, it would be cheaper,’ she said.

‘For glass, it’s £40 a ton at Fontaine Vinery, whereas it would cost £135.50 a ton at Mont Cuet.

‘People are not aware of what they could save and they don’t realise the benefits of it.’
