CIVIL servants have agreed to a pay freeze for this year.
The settlement is part of a three-year agreement, which will see civil servants having to wait until January next year before they get a rise.
The new deal will mean increases below the RPI figure will be made in stages between January 2011 and April 2013.
The former agreement saw civil servants receive an inflation-busting pay deal of 3% last year, when RPI fell to -1.2%.
Public Sector Remuneration Committee chairman Allister Langlois (pictured) said the new agreement was ‘good news’.
