Le Ber knocks out champ and daughter-in-law to be
Friday 28th May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
FOUR of Guernsey’s Commonwealth Games bowls picks were beaten in the opening round of the Press Open Singles.
They included the champion, Lucy Beere, beaten by her father-in-law to be, Len Le Ber (pictured).
The first month of the outdoor season has been a challenge for the greenkeepers who have been using extra water on the greens during the drought conditions and it has been a real challenge to bowlers who are adjusting from their indoor game.
Champion Beere lost out in a very tight match with Le Ber, both players adjusting to the quicker pace than was expected at Delancey Park for this month.
