Too busy for three shops, Hansa quits the Bridge
Saturday 29th May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
HANSA on the Bridge is closing down today.
Owners of the health food store confirmed the news yesterday, but maintained that they were doing it for the good of their customers and staff.
The Bridge shop is one of three Hansa outlets in the island.
Tom Roffey (pictured), who owns the company with his wife, said they decided to close the Bridge premises to dedicate more time towards developing the other stores and their services.
‘This is a positive thing for us,’ he said.

What a shame! We no longer live in Guernsey but it is sad to hear of shops closing on the Bridge – or, indeed, in St Peter Port. We used to visit the Bridge branch of Hansa a lot. Is it really ‘a positive thing’ for Tom or is the closure really due to high rents? The States really need to get their priorities right when setting rates for small retail premises. Guernsey will end up losing all its lovely local shops and find itself stuck with large, impersonal UK chains. Be warned!

Its a very small shop makes sense for them to put more effort into the other 2 shops.
