Flats plan at Red Lion but pub is safe
Monday 31st May 2010, 2:29PM BST.
A MAJOR project to redevelop the upstairs of the Red Lion and two neighbouring properties could go ahead if planning officials agree.
But the pub is safe, say its owners.
Randalls Brewery has applied to the Environment Department to knock down the two houses it owns next to the St Peter Port pub and replace them with a block of 14 one-bedroom flats and four two-bedroom flats, over four levels.
The current 11 bedrooms above the public bar will also be turned into flats and the pub itself will be refurbished.
Randalls managing director Ian Rogers said that if plans were approved, the properties would greatly be improved.
