ST PETER Port seafront became a car-free zone yesterday as diners took to the streets.

It was the first of four summer closures for The Quay under the Taste of Guernsey banner, a Good Food Guernsey initiative.

Co-organiser Nick Creed said they tested the water last year and it had been a success.

‘Last year it was a much smaller event but on the back of that it was decided to grow it into an event that filled the street,’ he said.

Mr Creed said the event attracted both locals and passengers from visiting cruise liners.
