‘I thought it was a gun’: deputy gets French banger in letterbox
Tuesday 8th June 2010, 2:29PM BST.
A POLITICIAN thought a gun had gone off when a firework was thrown through the letterbox of his home.
Deputy Mike Collins (pictured), who represents St Peter Port North, said he was working in a room adjoining the hall at the time.
‘The first thing I heard was the letterbox opening and then there was a big bang,’ he said. ‘I really thought a gun had gone off and I grabbed my chair to protect myself.’
Deputy Collins said he had heard nothing on the gravel outside and when he opened the door he could not see anyone.
Police confirmed that they were investigating the incident, which occurred at about 11pm on Thursday 27 May. House-to-house inquiries were carried out but no arrests had been made.
