Eric Walters doffs his lucky election hat in 2004 when he stood as a deputy in the Castel.
HUNDREDS of islanders yesterday paid their respects to one of Guernsey’s most loved public figures, former deputy Eric Walters.
Both the Delisles Methodist Church in Castel and the hall across the road were filled with mourners who came together to remember the popular politician’s life.
He died on 30 May, aged 79.
Former deputy Dan Le Cheminant paid tribute to his friend and States contemporary, whom he said he had known all his life.
‘It was great to see so many people and that just shows what people thought of Eric and what he contributed to the life of the island and in particular the Castel.’

What a truly inspiring man who did good by everyone he came across. He touched so many people throughout his life and I feel lucky to have known him, for most of my life. RIP Eric.
