‘Cursed’ Druce lines up spectacle
Friday 11th June 2010, 2:30PM BST.
TOM DRUCE aims to break a curse and beat or even challenge Dale Garland’s 400m all-comers’ record at Foote’s Lane next weekend.
Druce, 23, has ‘match managed’ his own race which will be the high point of next Saturday’s Intertrust Golden Series meeting which comes just a week before the UK trials in Birmingham the following weekend.
All six runners in the Guernsey one-lap race have run sub 47.2, a time which has been bettered here only by Garland, who sits top of the all-comers list with his 46.5 at the equivalent event three summers back.
Druce has been inching closer to Garland’s Guernsey record time and does not rule it going next weekend.
