Unfit to plead woman bailed to get treatment
Saturday 12th June 2010, 11:30AM BST.
A GUERNSEY immigration adviser found unfit to plead in the Royal Court must receive psychiatric treatment before her case can be reviewed.
Angelique Blin, pictured, 49, of Overseas Angels, faces seven counts of deception, or an alternative of theft, totalling £26,000 over 18 months in 2007 and 2008.
Her advocate, Peter Ferbrache, successfully argued that his client was not fit to plead.
The court heard that the firm had not been able to take instruction from Miss Blin and, after 110 hours of trying, they had still not compiled a statement on her behalf.
The eight Jurats were spilt 4–4 and presiding Judge Finch cast the deciding vote – that Miss Blin was unfit to plead.
Her case has now been adjourned, and will be reviewed later this year.
