Island-wide polls plan has parishes worried

PARISH officials have expressed fears over the possible introduction of island-wide voting outlined in this month’s Billet.
St Peter Port junior constable Barry Cash said it was essential that the parishes retain some representation in the States.
And experienced election organiser and former Vale constable, now Vale secretary Margaret Cleal, doubted a new system would work smoothly.
The States Assembly and Constitution Committee has put forward three systems for the introduction of island-wide voting for the 2012 elections.
