CONTINUED rises in the price of fuel will make solar power energy systems more and more attractive, a local building seminar has heard.
The Sarnian Roofing event, which attracted around 50 members from the Guernsey building trade, saw representatives from Solar UK and Renolit Waterproofing talk about the merits of installing effective solar systems on the roofs of buildings.
Geoff Fox, technical director at Solar UK, told the audience that solar power was being underutilised and made reference to a statistic that showed the amount of sunlight landing on the earth’s surface in just one hour was equal to all the energy used in the world in one year.
The UK, as well as Guernsey, was also half-a-decade behind the rest of Europe in utilising this energy both commercially and domestically, he added.
