Heather Watson

She now plays fellow qualifier, the world No. 50 from Canada, Aleksandra Wozniak, for a place in the last 16 at the AEGON International and a likely meeting with the world No. 8, Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska.

A sideline of the 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 win over Serbian Bojana Jovanovski was that it bumped the Guernsey girl 20 places up the world rankings into the 320s. Another win today will provide the US Junior Open champion with a further 50 points which would bounce her dozens of places up the WTA ranking list, perhaps as high as the 260s.

    Letter to Editor,

Would love to hear from anyone on Guernsey that know any descendents of Jacques Bouffard/Beaufort and Marie (Mary) Rottenbury. My great grandfather John Beaufort was the second youngest of their nine children. In 1841 Guernsey Island Census,it shows that James (Jacques) Bouffard was 45 years of age and worked as an Agricultural Labourer. His wife Mary (Marie) Rottenbury was 42 years of age. Their first born son James 15 was a Shipwright Apprentice, then there was Mary 13, Rosalie 12, Margaret Richardson 10, Elizabeth 8, Louisa 6, John 4 and Harriet Victoria 2 years.
