HEATHER WATSON’S credentials have been endorsed by the world No. 11 who yesterday ended the Sarnian’s impressive run in the Aegon International.
Victoria Azarenka took 59 minutes to overcome her 18-year-old opponent 6-1, 6-1 on Court One at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne, but the 21-year-old from Belarus had some encouraging words about Watson afterwards.
‘I’ve never seen her play before. My coach was watching her yesterday and there are no easy opponents on the tour any more so I prepared for a tough match,’ said Azarenka, a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon last year.
