NEARLY 100 evacuees shared a special tea yesterday to remember the 70th anniversary of the momentous occasion in the island’s history.
The event at Les Rocquettes Hotel was organised by the Red Cross. The evacuees enjoyed sandwiches, tea and cake.
The room had been specially decorated with Red Cross parcels, as well as models of parcels and the SS Vega created by school children.
The evacuees also attended a service at St Stephen’s Church, where they sang hymns and shared stories.
