SEVERAL deputies got a soaking at this year’s CGi Technology Challenge but all in the name of science.
Around 50 students from the island’s schools took part in the annual event. The experiment, Fly by Wire, was to design a mechanism to travel along a wire and pop a water balloon above a deputy’s head.
The creations were judged by special guest Jake Meyer, who when he was 21 became the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest.
Organiser Simon Keys said Mr Meyer had achieved a lot at such a young age so it seemed appropriate to invite him to be the judge.
‘We are trying to give the students a clearer understanding of working life,’ he said.
