AN internationally renowned sculptor was left waiting for the tide at Pembroke yesterday.

Andy Goldsworthy was working with students from the College of Further Education to create an installation called Sand Stones.

Islanders were invited to the beach between 2 and 4pm to watch the project interact with the incoming tide.

Embarrassingly, however, organisers had misread the tidetables and the water was not expected to reach the stones until 4.30pm at the earliest.

Mr Goldsworthy was working with students, and some former students, as part of the Artist in Residence programme and they had mixed views of the artist and his work.
